  Diving procedures

General Procedures for your dive with us

  1. Please check in at the dive shop on arrival – confirm dive times, sort out rental equipment, sign the indemnity forms. Don’t forget to bring your certification card.
The shop is open from 07:30 to 12:30 and 13:30 to 16:30. In high season it is open from 07:30 to 17:30
Transfers to the beach can be arranged at this time.
Please don't leave it until 10 minutes before your dive!

  2. In the mornings we meet at the beach under the Scuba Centre Gazebo at least half an hour before launch time.

  3. One of our Beach Hands will help you kit up on the beach and will look after your equipment for the duration of your stay.

  4. The Divemaster does a briefing, advising the group on which reefs it will be possible to visit based on the weather conditions of the day.

  5.  The decision is then left up to the group and is based on a majority vote!

  6. On the first dive we usually try to visit one of the further reefs (5, 7 & 9 mile) & on the second dive we head for one of the spots around 2 Mile Reef.

  7. The divers push the boat (7.2 metre semi-inflatable) into the water & the skipper launches the boat through the surf  –  very exciting!!  The length of the boat ride depends on which reef you are visiting and varies from 5 minutes to about 45 minutes.

  8. Once you reach the dive site you put your gear on and in you all go!!

  9. You drift dive together as a group led by the Divemaster.

  10. Once the dive is over & everyone is back on board, the boat heads for shore.

  11. The whole dive usually takes about 2 hours.

  12. When you return to the beach, while the Beach Hand rinses your gear, you can shower, get out of your wetsuits, and have something to eat or drink from the kiosk.

  13. Then relax under the shade of our Gazebo for an hour or two until the second dive.
