The main aim is to make you a safe diver. There are no hidden extras. 
The cost includes everything that you will need to finish the course.

Course Outline

This is where you start your full time underwater adventures. 
If you have done the DISCOVER SCUBA or DISCOVER SCUBA DIVING course you will now receive more intensive training along with more detailed lectures on the theory of diving.

We are a 5 Star IDC PADI Dive Centre so you will be assured of receiving thoroughly professional tuition. 
We are the Sodwana School of Diving so you will also receive that little bit extra that brings it’s own rewards.
Four nights and five days is all it takes. There are no hidden extras. 
The cost of your course includes everything that you will need to finish the course.
Everything you need is in one place. Our school, our pool, our shop  and not forgetting our beach. Bring a friend and have a holiday.

DAY ONE     

Introduction and paperwork

Lecture module 1: The underwater world   

diving equipment  - the buddy system  - swim test - 200 yard swim (about 186 metres) - 10 minute water tread

Pool module 1: Kit Up   

Buoyancy compensator operation - breathing habits  - regulator recovery and clearing - partial mask clear - underwater swimming - 5 point ascent and descent

DAY TWO    

Lecture module 2: Adapting to the underwater world

1. Respiration - 2. Diving equipment  - 3. Buddy system procedures

Pool module 2:  Pre-dive safety check

1. Deep water entries - 2. Snorkel clearing (blast method) - 3. Snorkel/regulator exchange - 4. Surface snorkel with full gear - 5. Remove, replace and clear mask  - 6. No mask breathing  - 7. Surface buoyancy check  - 8. Cramp removal - 9. Tired diver tow - 10. Deep water exit

Lecture module 3:  The diving environment   

1. Dive planning - 2. Boat diving procedures - 3. Problem management

Pool module 3:  No mask swimming  

1. Fin pivot - 2. Alternate air source breathing - 3. Free flow regulator breathing - 4. Simulated controlled emergency ascent

  DAY THREE  

Lecture module 4: Accessory diving equipment

1. Health for diving - 2. Breathing air at depth - 3. Dive tables introduction - 4. Using recreational dive planner (RDP)

Pool module 4:  Proper hyperventilation - skin diving

1. Skin diving surface dives - 2. Snorkel clearing  - 3. Hover buddy breathing

Lecture module 5:   RDP special circumstances 

1. Finding minimum surface interval - 2. Dive tables definitions  - 3. Basic compass navigation

Pool module 5:  Equipment   

Remove and replace 1. Weight belt  2. Scuba unit  - 3. Air depletion 

DAY FOUR 

Sea Dives

Open water boat dives 1 and 2. - exam

DAY FIVE 

Sea Dives

Openwater boat dives 3 and 4
