Divemaster Project

Greg has started to teach a new group of local divemasters, continuing the excellent project which resulted in 5 trained local divemasters. One of whom has used his qualifications to gain experience outside of Sodwana. We will let you know the progress of this new group.
Divemasters award party
We have finally been able to present our new Divemasters with their certificates.
We held a staff party on Sunday 12th November and officially presented Isaiah, Muzi, Mduduzi, Dennis and James with their DM certificates.
We also invited local Induna's Simon and Mbuyazi plus the assistant Nkosi Gerry to the party where Greg made a sincere speech about how much the project meant to him, and how proud he was of them all.
With music provided by the great local band Sondela, and a scrumptious lamb on a spit, a good time was had by all.
BREAKING NEWS - All five have passed and we are thrilled to have them with us as full Divemasters. - Jan 06

A BIG THANKS TO MANEX POWER AND MARINE and PADI
FOR SPONSORING OUR LOCAL DIVEMASTER PROJECT

We have long held the view that we should not just import staff to work in Sodwana but should train local residents.
With this in mind, Greg has implemented our "Local Divemaster Project" whereby we offered to train some of our beach staff as Divemasters.
We gave everyone the chance to participate with 5 places being awarded to the successful applicants. Each applicant had to successfully pass their Openwater exam. the course being provided by us and PADI supplying the Crew Packs.
The 5 who qualified were Isaiah, Muzi, Mduduzi, Dennis and James. Isaiah and Muzi have been with us for over 10 years while the others have recently joined.
We were very pleased that Manex Power and Marine offered to sponsor our winning applicants with equipment and we thank PADI for supplying their Divemaster crew packs.
Accordingly Dave from Manex came to Sodwana at the end of June to handover 5 sets of equipment that they were sponsoring our trainee divemasters.
The equipment consisted of SEAQUEST BC's, AQUALUNG TITAN Regulators with OCTO's, SUNTO GHEKO Dive Computers and AQUALUNG wetsuits.
Our trainee Divemasters should have no technical troubles with such fabulous equipment, (they even make some of our other staff jealous)
We have been dealing with Manex in one way or another for fourteen years or so and we were absolutely delighted with their response to our project
Thanks again to MANEX and PADI for helping us to help our community.
